The deployment of impersonation websites at equibit.io and equibit.net is one of the most visible elements of the interference directed at Equibit Group Ltd. The following six facts are established by domain registration records, archival captures, search-result screenshots, and the Statement of Claim in Court File No. CV-26-00017856-0000 (Equibit Group Ltd. and Chris Horlacher v. Nathan Wosnack and Ubitquity, LLC).
Wosnack Registered Equibit.io in 2019 While Holding Inside Knowledge
First, Nathan Wosnack registered the domain equibit.io in or about March 2019. At that time he possessed detailed knowledge of Equibit’s name, branding, marketing materials, and proprietary information acquired during his tenure as a director and as Chief Blockchain Officer of the company. The domain was initially used for an unrelated Ubitquity product and displayed Ubitquity’s copyright notice.
Equibit.io Became a Full Impersonation Site Using Horlacher’s Likeness
Second, in or about January 2022 the content at equibit.io was replaced with a full impersonation site. The new site used Equibit’s name and visual branding, displayed Chris Horlacher’s name and likeness, and falsely represented that Horlacher was its chief executive officer. The site was active during a period when Horlacher was conducting media interviews and preparing public presentations. An independent journalist unknowingly included the fraudulent domain as an official link. After Equibit complained to the registrar, NameCheap acknowledged the site as abusive and suspended it in January 2023, but refused to disclose the identity of the registrant.
Equibit.net Was Registered in 2017 and Held Dormant for Years
Third, the domain equibit.net was registered through the same registrar in 2017, while Wosnack was still a director and officer of Equibit. It was held without active content for approximately nine years.
Equibit.net Claimed a Non-Existent “Equibit, Inc.” Was Licensed and Regulated
Fourth, in or about April 2026 equibit.net was activated with a near-identical clone of Equibit’s branding and business description. The site falsely stated that it was published by “Equibit, Inc.” — an entity that does not exist in any corporate registry — and further claimed that the business was “Licensed and Regulated.” Both representations were false, and the Claim alleges that Wosnack knew them to be false.
Equibit.net Ranked First on Google for the Term “Equibit”
Fifth, despite having minimal original content and a very short operational history, equibit.net achieved the first position in Google search results for the primary branded term “Equibit,” ranking above Equibit’s own documentation site. This preferential ranking is difficult to explain by ordinary organic factors.
Privacy, Cloudflare, and Robots.txt After the April 2026 Archive
Sixth, the operators of the second site took deliberate steps to frustrate evidence preservation. Maximum registrant privacy was enabled at NameCheap, the site was placed behind Cloudflare, and after a single archival capture was obtained on 11 April 2026 the robots.txt file was configured to disallow all crawlers. The Statement of Claim seeks a Norwich order against NameCheap, Cloudflare, Google, and other intermediaries compelling production of registrant records, billing data, IP logs, search-console verification records, advertising campaign data, and any records of curated or preferential ranking, including techniques associated with the Redirect Method developed by Google’s Jigsaw unit and Moonshot.
These six facts form the core of CV-26-00017856-0000. The Claim seeks damages, injunctive relief, transfer of the domains, an accounting, and a Norwich order directed at NameCheap, Cloudflare, Google, and other intermediaries.
