During the January 2023 media cycle a journalist linked equibit.io as if it were official. The site used Horlacher’s name and likeness. An April 2019 archive showed a Ubitquity copyright notice. NameCheap later called the site abusive and would not name the registrant.
WordPress alerts and Wordfence logs recorded a malicious Performance Optimizer plugin and live administrator sessions using the contractor username Waseem. The account was deleted. Hosting.com quarantined the file.
